General Cardiology - Physician

UPMC Somerset is seeking a BE/BC General Cardiologist to join our Cardiology team. This is an opportunity to start in an already-thriving practice with 20-25 patient visits per day. The clinic in total sees approximately 800 office visits per month. Over and above that, the clinic has its own weekly pacemaker clinic one day per week that sees approximately 20-25 patients.

• You will be working with two interventional cardiologists and a team of Advanced Practice Providers
• At UPMC Somerset, you will matter. You will join a tight-knit group of experienced Cardiology professionals, inclusive of two interventional cardiologists and three APPs, in addition to dedicated nurses, medical assistants, and front desk personnel as well as a Practice Manager.
• The Cardiology program at Somerset is part of the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, one of the world's premier centers for comprehensive cardiovascular care. This group provides resources that reach well-beyond the Somerset area.

Clinical and Program Highlights

· Non-invasive cardiologists work with both inpatient and outpatient services and are supplemented by the physician assistants. Hospital services consist of rounding/consults, TEE procedures, stress tests, echoes, and EKGs. Medical call has some supplementation by other Heart and Vascular Institute providers for weekend coverage via tele-Cardiology services. Physician assistants provide some weekend rounding as well.

· The clinic runs a one-day per week afternoon Pacemaker Clinic each week, seeing approximately 20-25 patients during the clinic hours.

• Qualifications:
• Required-
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Cardiology
• Eligibility for PA licensure
• A commitment to patient-centered care and excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as we prioritize delivering the highest quality care in a compassionate, professional environment.
• Preferred-
• Community hospital medicine experience

About UPMC Somerset

UPMC Somerset Cardiology has been providing exemplary cardiac care and services for patients of Somerset County and beyond for more than 30 years. The practice is located directly across the street from UPMC Somerset allowing very easy access for going between the inpatient and outpatient settings. The Cardiology program is part of UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, providing expansive resources throughout the health system.

The hospital has a comprehensive 24/7 Cardiac Cath Lab which handles cardiac care for heart attacks, peripheral vascular disease, pacemaker needs, treatment of blood clots in the lungs and lower extremities and treatment of varicose veins.

There are many specialty services located on the UPMC Somerset campus to include orthopedics, neurology, pulmonary medicine, pain management, and general surgery, with women's health services within a couple of miles from the campus. There is also a very busy telemedicine center available for referrals for Rheumatology, Endocrinology and Neurosurgery services. Otolaryngology services to include Allergy services and Head/Neck surgery services are located within 30 minutes of the hospital. Additionally, there are four UPMC Primary Care sites expanding across the county, creating a strong referral base for the specialist practices.

UPMC Somerset and its medical office building are located within one mile of Pennsylvania Turnpike allowing for easy access to Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. Travel to Pittsburgh is approximately one hour and travel to the Pittsburgh International Airport is approximately 1.5 hours, making it an ideal location to work in a rural community area while maintaining a close proximity to city life. The county of Somerset boasts of three separate ski resorts within a few miles of town. There are also expansive hiking and biking trails, numerous lakes and rivers for fishing, kayaking, and rafting and ample game lands for hunting.
