Position Summary

We are seeking a talented and motivated Marine Structural Engineer to join our marine engineering and naval architecture team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting structural analysis, designing resilient marine installations, and developing engineering calculation packages for offshore structures, vessels, port facilities, and waterfront infrastructure.

Candidates must hold at least a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE / EIT) certification, with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to work on complex, high-visibility marine projects from initial concept through shipyard fabrication and field installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Structural Analysis & Simulation: Perform global and local finite element analysis (FEA), fatigue assessments, plate buckling checks, and hydrodynamic load calculations for offshore assets, hulls, and marine foundations.
• Engineering Design Packages: Prepare detailed structural calculation sheets, specifications, and drawing packages in compliance with marine classification societies (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register) and regulatory bodies (USCG, API).
• Licensure & Stamping: Lead structural validation efforts; candidates holding a PE license will oversee and stamp final design deliverables and permit packages.
• Shipyard & Yard Support: Provide technical support during construction, repair, and refit operations; review fabrication shop drawings, evaluate weld procedures, and troubleshoot field variances.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate closely with naval architects, mechanical engineers, geotechnical consultants, and project managers to ensure seamless structural integration.
• Client & Class Representation: Assist in presenting calculation packages to clients, survey authorities, and class societies during review and approval cycles.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related ABET-accredited discipline.
• Licensure: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) / Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is strictly required.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in structural design or engineering analysis, ideally within the maritime, shipyard, offshore oil & gas, or offshore wind sectors.
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with structural engineering software (e.g., SACS, ANSYS, STAAD.Pro, RISA, or OrcaFlex) and 2D/3D CAD platforms (AutoCAD, Rhino, or ShipConstructor).
• Codes & Standards: Familiarity with AISC, API RP 2A, ABS Rules, DNV standards, or relevant coastal design criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Structural, Civil, or Marine Engineering (or ability to obtain via reciprocity).
• Advanced Degree: Master of Science in Structural Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
• Field & Yard Experience: Prior hands-on shipyard, drydock, or offshore installation survey experience.
• Complex Dynamics: Knowledge of wave-current hydrodynamic interaction, moorings, or heavy lift rigging analysis.
